Frequently Asked Questions

How long does the fitting process take?

The answer to this question depends on you! Typically a fitting lasts from 15 to 20 minutes. Some people know more quickly what they like and some need to try on many shoes side by side.

Do I need to make an appointment?

You do not need to make an appointment. Of course, there are times the store is more busy than others.

Does gait analysis cost anything?

Nope.  Gait analysis is part of our exceptional customer service.

Do I need to bring in my old shoes?

You do not need to bring your old shoes.  We are able to help you based on your feet and how you look running or walking in the shoes we have you try in the store.  If you decide to record your sale in our system, the next time you visit we will be able to look up the make and model of your last pair of shoes.

Do I need to break my shoes in?

There really should not be a long break in period for running shoes.  If something is uncomfortable while you are trying them out in the store we will recommend trying a different pair.

How long will my shoes last?

Typically running shoes will last 350 to 500 miles. If you are using your shoes for walking you can extend that by another 300 hundred or so.  If you are wearing your running shoes for all activity (shopping, yard work, disco dancing) you are going to wear them out faster and it is harder to track definitively when the shoe is finished.

Why did you bump me up a size from the shoes I normally buy?

We always like to have about a thumb’s width from your biggest toe to the end of your shoe. Particularly when you are training for a longer distance you need the extra room. As your mileage increases your foot tends to swell. But even if you are only running 3 to 5 miles at a time it is important to have enough room to allow proper movement.

What if my new shoes don’t work out?

You have 30 days to return your shoes for a replacement or store credit.  If your shoes are not in saleable condition and have been worn outside we will work with you to find a pair that suits you better or give you a store credit.  If you would like a full refund on your shoes we ask that they come back in saleable condition within 2 weeks in their original packaging.

What is the best brand of shoes in your store?

Everyone’s foot is different!  Back to the fitting process: we know our shoes – so when you give us an idea of what you do and don’t like it helps us move on to a shoe we think might fit you perfectly. We take pride in helping you find that shoe. One of the reasons we carry so many models and brands is that we know the same thing won’t work for everyone.
